Edge vacuum sealers (also called suction vacuum sealers) are the most common type of vacuum sealer in households today. Edge sealers use suction to remove oxygen-containing air from the bag, before creating an airtight seal around the food.
Vacuum chamber sealers evacuate the air from an airtight box containing the bag, not from the bag itself. This makes the vacuum process highly efficient. Chamber sealers are compatible with all types of vacuum bags.
Handheld Vacuum Sealers seal zip bags or food containers that have a vacuum port. They can also be used to seal dry goods inside mason jars.
A nozzle sealer works by inserting a nozzle into a flat vacuum bag. After air is evacuated, the nozzle retracts to allow sealing to begin. Nozzle-type sealers are compatible with flat smooth bags-if you can purchase them. Nozzle vacuum sealers can seal mylar bags, which are best for long-term storage of dry foods.
